READ THIS WARNING: My turn signals are not working, although the turn signals do light when the hazard lights button is pressed. So it was logical to think that the problem is the selector switch in the control arm by the steering wheel. I called Highland Volkswagen and explained to Ryan that I use my car for work. I asked if they had the part available so that when I bring my car for service they can replace the part if that is the problem, so that I wouldn't have to leave my car there for days while they waited for the part to arrive. They did not have the part available and had to order it. I had to pay for the part up front. They scheduled me for the appointment on Tuesday August 22. I brought my car in and the clerk said they will check it in and update me. The service person, Ryan came and gave me the receipt for the part. About eighty minutes later Ryan came and told me that they had replaced the part and that has not fixed the problem. He asked if I would like them to perform diagnostics to determine the real cause of the malfunction for an additional $100. I told him to go ahead and do it. He returned in five minutes and told me that they would not have time to do it this morning but I could leave my car at the shop, and offered to help schedule me a rental car. I declined and went to pay for the job and collect my car. I asked for a discount since I was not advised before they put the steering wheel back together that the issue was not resolved. They gave me a $20 discount off the labour. Ryan apologized for the miscommunication.
From sales to service, just an all-around fantastic experience. We have purchased two cars from here Highland Volkswagen and enjoyed the experience both times. If you were looking for a great vehicle or need to get yours worked on, you cannot do any better than Highland VW.
MY THOUGHTS:
I wasted over $200 because the turn signal problem was not fixed and is no closer to being fixed.
Service visit . Friendly staff and efficient service. Came for the service, came back for the staff. Very pleasant environment
I called the service department today for help with a fuse box issue. Kelly was extremely helpful and took the time to help me out. After consulting with a technician, she was able to give me the exact information I needed. Refreshing to know they are helpful and friendly even after your vehicle has been purchased.
The service center knew that the reason I brought the car in is to get the turn signals working again. They knew that I use my car for work and wanted the repair done in one day if at all possible. They failed to inform me of any updates while I sat in the waiting area. They could have let me know BEFORE REASSEMBLING MY VEHICLE that since replacing the part did not fix the problem they would have to do additional diagnostics. They should not have made me pay for the new part since it was not the problem. The ONLY reason I had them order the part is so that they could have it available in case it was needed so I would could have my car back the same day. Common sense should have told them that I didn't come to have a working part replaced with a new part if that wouldn't fix the issue. I'm a student working my way through college. I can hardly justify spending $200 on not essential repairs for a 15 year old car much less WASTING it by replacing a part that still works.
They are very helpful and knowledgeable. They don't hound, but are very attentive. If you ever want to trust a dealership (Yes, I said it) this is the one.
